چکیده

Abstract The drag and vortex induced vibration (VIV) characteristics of a multiple cylinder are investigated using the detached eddy simulations. cylinders consist single main twin auxiliary for deep sea mining riser. Tandem side-by-side arrangements tested compared with cylinder. stationary case in range 0.5∼2.0 × 10 5 Reynolds number (Re). tandem arrangement shows smaller than those while it’s consisted three cylinders. vortexes observed at clearance between which make become airfoil-like section as total induce smallest other cases. VIV studied cases forced oscillation cross-flow direction. damping added mass coefficients direction estimated from time series lift forces. Flow field analysis reveal difference due to variety pipe.

A Complementary Numerical and Physical Investigation of Vortex-induced Vibration

Results are presented from low Reynolds number experimental investigations of vortex-induced vibration and comparison is made with results from corresponding twoand three-dimensional direct numerical simulations. It is shown that three-dimensional simulations are required to reproduce the response envelope observed experimentally. Phase-averaged contours of spanwise vorticity demonstrate the pr...

a numerical model of vortex-induced vibration on marine risers

the steger and warming flux vector splitting implicit scheme is used to numerically solve two dimensional reynolds averaged navier–stokes (rans) equations governing the vortex induced vibration of a flexible riser laterally supported by a spring and a damper. the k–ε model is used as turbulence model to simulate the turbulent flow in the wake of the riser. to update the new position of the rise...

Numerical simulation of vortex-induced vibration of two long flexible circular cylinders in tandem

A quasi three-dimensional numerical model is developed to study vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of two tandem flexible circular cylinders. In this model, the whole cylinder is divided into many sections along its length. The hydrodynamics of each section are represented by the solution of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The dynamic response of the flexible cylinder is predicted by t...

Vortex Induced Oscillations of Cylinders

The submitted fluid dynamics videos [1] depict the various orientational dynamics of a hinged cylinder suspended in a flow tank. The different behaviors displayed by the cylinder range from steady orientation to periodic oscillation and even autorotation. We illustrate these features using a phase diagram which captures the observed phenomena as a function of Reynolds number (Re) and reduced in...

Vortex-Induced Vibration Characteristics of an Elastic Circular Cylinder

A numerical simulation of vortex-induced vibration of a 2-dimensional elastic circular cylinder with two degree of freedom under the uniform flow is calculated when Reynolds is 200. 2-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved with the space-time finite element method, the equation of the cylinder motion is solved with the new explicit integral method and the mesh renew is ac...
